Natural beauties

Turiec region is surrounded with the mountains and remarkable sceneries made by nature. Perhaps the most interesting and picturesque valleys are Blatnicka and Gaderska valleys which are in Velka Fatra. These valleys are behind the village Blatnica. Gaderska valley is 18 km long and it is notable with its pellucid stream, bizzare rock formations, Blatnica castle ruins, and above all amazing nature. It is also starting place or aim of several tourist routes, for example to the hills Tlstá (1373m) and Ostrá (1247m) around the cave Mažarna. There is very interesting rock formation in the valley so called Certova brána ( in English Gate of Devil), we can remember from the first film about Jánošík. The film was made in 1921 and it is registered in Film World Memory by UNESCO.

Bottoms of Velka and Mala Fatra are typical with picturesque small villages from where we can go along valleys, through forests, meadows and clear-felled areas to the tops of well known hills. For example we can get to Lysec hill from Jasenska valley, and to Borišov from Belianska valley. In Mala Fatra there are famous Martinske hole. The village Sutovo is remarkable with its tourist route around Sutovsky waterfall.
