| Natural beauties of Turiec are connected with sport possibilities in this region. There are occasions for hill and foothill hiking, cycling and skiing. As for hiking there are marked tracks of various demandingness. Malá Fatra and Veľká Fatra hills offers beautiful views of the whole Turiec region but also near-by regions. The most popular climbings are to the hills Lysec(1381m), Borišov(1510m), Kľak(1394m), Tlstá(1373m), Ostrá(1247m), Ploská, Drieňok(1268m) and others. |
Tourist track to Drieňok hill (Veľká Fatra)Blue colour – Turčianske Teplice (Diviaky) – Turčiansky Michal – Rakša – Mača – Drieňok (3,5 hours). Description: Medium demanding route, orientally easy to manage. Steep climbing in the end of the route is the most difficult. Grass top of the hill Drieňok is not very crowded, but it is attractive.  |
Turistická trasa na BorišovBelá- Dulice – Sindelná – Košariská – Chalet at Borišov – Borišov – Dolný Boričov – Necpaly ( 8,5 hours). Description: Long and demanding route along long valleys and forests. Clear-felled area around Borišov as well as top of the hill provides amazing views. Cottage at Borišov offers accommodation as well as meals whole the year. It is practically the only chalet in Veľká Fatra.

Cycling routes in Turiec region |
| There are opportunities for mountain as well as road cycling in Turiec region, the routes are divided according to longness, demandingness and target. So we can talk about educational and cognitive routes, mountain routes and valley routes. Cycling routes are marked. For example Turčianska cyklomagistrála Vrútky – Turčianske Teplice (55 km) is marked by red colour. |

| This famous ski resort is in Malá Fatra direct above Martin town. It is very popular thanks to its ski tracks, remarkable nature and view to all Slovak mountains and Martin town. Snowland-Valča valley |
| This new resort is in so called Lučanská part of Malá Fatra in distance 12,5 km from Martin town. It is modern, well equipped resort with very good car approach. The north-eastern hill provides good conditions for skiing and snowboarding from December to March. Ski hills (510-830 m) are well amended and snowed with technical snow. The Jasenská valley is well known Veľká Fatra valley. It is located northly under Lysec hill, in distance 12 km from Martin town. It is not only winter but also the whole year recreation resort (540 m). |
